Chip seal is an affordable way to create a new and durable surface driveway experience that lasts for many years. The fresh aggregate added to chip seal provides additional skid resistance for your vehicle. Chip sealants help protect asphalt pavement from harsh weather, excess moisture, heavy traffic and other damaging conditions by adding a protective barrier. Chip sealing also corrects raving, which is when aggregate is lost along the surface of the asphalt. Home owners and commercial establishments in Oklahoma use chip seal for many reasons. It is easy to maintain, looks great, is durable, and is affordable. Chip seal can be used for a driveway, a parking lot, a country road, street, other roads, a municipal building, shopping center, apartment complex, and more. In Oklahoma, chip seal is used for county roads & highways.

Chip Seal Process

The chip seal paving process is quick and provides a more durable surface. There is no down time for your company or home in using this product. Heavy Trucks can drive on it the moment it is done! Chip Seal Paving is a layer of hot liquified asphalt tar that is applied to your dusty driveway, parking lot or road. Then a layer of 3/8″ chip rock is rolled to compaction. Tar & chip has been used for over a century with great success, to pave and resurface roads, parking lots, driveways, for residential, commercial and industrial establishments.  With Chip Sealing you have the ability to choose the color of your driveway simply by selecting the color of the stone that is used. This allows you to easily choose a driveway color that complements the colors of your house and landscaping.

Tar and chip pavement pavement surfaces are not new!

Tar and chip pavement pavement surfaces have been around for over 100 years. The blacktop installed today is a hybrid of both traditional tar and chip pavement. Many years ago, hot liquid tar (or asphalt cement) was sprayed over a gravel surface. In a short time, small, clean, dry stone chips were injected into the liquid tar, and as the tar cooled, it absorbed each of the individual stone chips. The result was a surface that was very similar to the asphalt blacktop you see on many roads across the country.
